Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about viewing public Snapchat profiles with Social Viewer.

Is Social Viewer free?

Yes. It's free to use, with no sign-up or paid tiers. The site may show ads to help cover running costs.

Do I need a Snapchat account?

No. Social Viewer never signs in to Snapchat. It only reads public profile pages that anyone can open in a browser.

Can I see private accounts or private stories?

No. It only shows what an account has made public on its Snapchat Public Profile. Private accounts, friends-only stories, messages and Snap Map locations are never shown.

Will the person know I viewed their story?

Your name won't appear in their viewer list, because Social Viewer doesn't use a Snapchat account. Snapchat itself can still see the request and its IP address, like any visit to its website, and it may count web views in overall view totals.

Why doesn't a profile show any stories?

Stories only appear when the account has a Snapchat Public Profile and has posted a public story in the last 24 hours or saved public highlights. Personal accounts without a Public Profile have nothing public to show.

Can I download stories?

No. Social Viewer only displays public content. Stories belong to their creators, so ask them before saving or reposting anything.

What does "Public profile since" mean?

It's the date the account's Snapchat Public Profile was created. Snapchat doesn't publish when an account itself was first made.

How up to date is the information?

Results are cached for up to 5 minutes. Search again after that to see new stories.

Is Social Viewer affiliated with Snapchat?

No. It's an independent project and isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Snap Inc.
